Trăn trở những ngày đầu

As an internist, I have experience working with patients with chronic diseases such as hypertension, coronary artery disease, diabetes, COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease - often caused by long-term smoking), chronic kidney disease, and even cancer. I used to believe that just giving the patients the right guidelines and medications was enough. But the reality is different - many patients, despite complying with treatment, still have to live with fatigue, shortness of breath, and the psychological burden of their illness.

I still remember a COPD patient who told me after a bout of difficulty breathing:

'Life is so hard, doctor. At this age, I still have to ask my children and grandchildren to help me go to the toilet...'

He was 65 years old at that time. At that moment, I suddenly stopped and wondered:

Besides medications, is there any other way to help patients take control of their health and live more quality with their conditions?

I started digging deeper into those questions, and I realized I had more to learn. I studied nutrition more deeply and discovered that nutrition can also help heal the body, especially the Whole Plant-Based Diet. This diet not only prevents but also supports the treatment of chronic diseases with surprising effectiveness. And I have tried this diet myself. After a few years of following this diet, I felt a clear change in my body: Irritable Bowel Syndrome – a result of chronic stress – almost disappeared and my skin has never been better.

For a more in-depth and scientific foundation, I completed the Nutrition Course at Cornell University, one of the top 8 universities in the United States, and the more I learned, the more confidence I have on the power of this diet.

Besides nutrition, physical exercise is very important in lifestyle medicine. Currently, I am studying for a Master's degree in Clinical Exercise Physiology in the UK. This field sounds quite uncommon in Vietnam, but is actually widespread in Australia, the US and the UK - for patients with chronic diseased like diabetes, hypertension, COPD, stroke to help patients recover and gradually regain their own health.

Combining a whole-food, plant-based diet with regular physical activity empowers individuals to take a more active role in caring for their own health. By choosing a healthy lifestyle each day, they begin to feel a greater sense of control over their well-being and illness, rather than believing everything depends solely on doctors or medication. This shift not only improves physical health but also brings a renewed sense of joy — allowing them to truly embrace and enjoy life more fully.

I believe: We can completely transform our health – not just with medicine, but with the way we eat, sleep, exercise and love our bodies every day.

WellX was born from that belief.

Here, I don't prescribe medication or treat you as a medical doctor. Instead, I be your side - as a friend and a health coach - to help you listen to your body, build healthy lifestyle and live more joy and energy every day.

Hope you have a good day!

Kind regards,

Thanh Nguyen
